French Bakery, Lunchtime Bistro and Global Fine Dining All Rolled Into One
WHERE: Downtown ? 500 North Tampa Street.
WHAT:?Three restaurants rolled into one. During breakfast, L?Eden is a fine French bakery and caf? ? serving savory specialties like croissants, pain au chocolat and brioche. At lunch, it?s a gourmet bistro with a menu of craft sandwiches, crepes and quiches. And by dinner, L?Eden has become an affordable, fine dining restaurant serving an array of international cuisine.
WHO (To Take With You): Your friend that has traveled (& tasted) the world. Although Chef Gerard Jamgotchian hails from France, the dinner menu at L?Eden does not. Entrees include authentic cuisines from over a dozen different countries or regions. French, Italian, Indian, Australian ? the dinner options can cure any craving from around the world. ?
WHY: ?Because its fresh, unusual and you can?t find it anywhere else.? Yes, I took the words right out of Chef Gerard?s mouth, but only because he?s right. L?Eden serves food that isn?t frozen, shallow or mass produced.?Each menu item is?designed with thought and care, made with fresh ingredients?and filled with Chef Gerard?s personal flair, setting it miles apart from standard restaurant-made meals.
WHEN (To Go): Because the L?Eden experience changes by the time of the day, it?s hard to choose one specific time to dine. But because the croissants at L?Eden have left me no choice, I must suggest weekend breakfasts. Flaky on the outside, warm and gooey on the inside, croissants this contradictory simply can?t be denied. Order them by the piece or stuffed with cheese, eggs and ham or bacon. Prepared to be hooked.
