UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is expected to make his first title defense against top contender Junior dos Santos at a November 19 UFC event in San Jose, California, UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta told the LA Times on Thursday.
Velasquez (9-0) has been sidelined since winning the belt with a first-round TKO of Brock Lesnar in October for his seventh-straight UFC win, while dos Santos (13-1) topped Shane Carwin earlier this month at UFC 131 to earn a shot at the title after seven UFC wins of his own.
The matchup was targeted to headline UFC 136 on Oct. 18 in Houston, but Velasquez took longer than expexted to recover from shoulder surgery.
