When look?ing at the stand out craft beer bars in Ari?zona, one that is always at the fore?front is Flanny?s. They are con?stantly bring?ing in some great beer and host?ing fan?tas?tic events. In fact, tonight (July 19th, 2012) there is a Four Peaks Tap Take-Over with 15 of the Tempe brewery?s beers that will be tapped. From Beer Trivia Night to Third Thurs?day Tap Take-Overs, Flanny?s has been serv?ing up some great events for all the locals.
With that, we would like to con?grat?u?late John Flana?gan (and his Father) earn?ing the #2 spot on the Beer?flu?en?tial Poll. Cheers!
The Brew Bros: How long have you been in the craft beer community?
John Flana?gan:?????? I was intro?duced to craft beer about 4 years ago by a friend who was a home?brewer ?and have been cap?ti?vated by the fla?vors and cre?ativ?ity of craft beer ever?since.
TBB:? What types of things do you do in the community?
JF:???? As part of a fam?ily busi?ness that has a focus on craft beer, I have been for?tu?nate enough to be able to buy all of the beer for Flan?nys and plan many events and tast?ings that allow peo?ple to learn more about just the beer. They are able to meet the brew?ers and are edu?cated on new and excit?ing things that are not nor?mally avail?able in the state. Many of our craft beer events have also been able to ben?e?fit char?i?ties, schools and sports teams in the local?area.
TBB: What do you feel is impor?tant for the state of Ari?zona to accom?plish to gain an edge in craft?beer?
JF:???? Ari?zona has come a long way in the craft beer com?mu?nity over the past few years. As we con?tinue to edu?cate new peo?ple to craft beer and offer more and more choices Ari?zona is already mak?ing a name for itself as one of the top craft beer states.?? There are so many great local and regional brew?eries that sell their beer here in Ari?zona, but most peo?ple are not exposed to?them.
TBB:? Why do you feel like your peers have voted you into the Top?5?
JF:????? When peo?ple come into Flanny?s they always are ask?ing ques?tions about the craft beers. My inter?est in craft beers has encour?aged me to edu?cate oth?ers on what they have been miss?ing. When we plan events or look to order dif?fer?ent beers I try to edu?cate as many peo?ple as I can about those beers and expose them to dif?fer?ent beer fla?vors and styles that they may not be used?to.
TBB: If you could do any?thing to help craft beer in Ari?zona, what would it?be?
JF:??? Craft beer has grown so much over the past 1.5 years that Flanny?s has been in busi?ness.? I would like to con?tinue to do every?thing I can to get more craft beer in front of more peo?ple and to show?case the wide port?fo?lios of the many dif?fer?ent brew?eries to our customers.
TBB: Who in Ari?zona influ?enced your craft beer passion?
JF :????? I was intro?duced to craft beer by a friend who was a home?brewer. Through his pas?sion for great beer and the influ?ence of his home?brew?ing friends I was able to learn a lot about beer in short period of time. As I became more involved in the cur?rent Craft beer com?mu?nity, the pas?sion I see from the brew?ers, the brew?eries and all the new cus?tomers will?ing to try it con?tin?ues to fuel my passion.
Patrick
Patrick Schroeder has two rules: 1) Drink beer good peo?ple brew. Craft brew?ers brew for the love of their craft so give every beer a try. B) Never drink the sed?i?ment cake. Other than that, Patrick spends his time home brew?ing, spend?ing time with his fam?ily and tip?ping back a few pints with fel?low beer lovers. If you wish to con?tact him, send an email to patrick@thebrewbros.com. You can also find him on Twit?ter under the name beerguru14. Prost!
