Joining a cycling triathlon is always a good way to meet other cyclists and challenge your fitness levels. However, if you?re thinking of participating in one, it?s important that you are prepared both physically and mentally. Here are some of the things that you might want to know about a cycling triathlon.

Get the right bike for you. You have to make sure that the bike that you are going to use is the right size for your body shape. This way, you will be able to control your bike better and you will get to perform at your best during the cycling triathlon. Using a bike that you currently own and have used for awhile will be beneficial, as you already have familiarity with it and will get better results. You just have to make sure that you check your bike before the actual cycling triathlon. Make sure that all the parts are in perfect shape and none of them are missing.

If you have purchased a new bike for the cycling triathlon, then take it out a few times beforehand. You could be making a mistake by riding it for the first time during the event. Even if you have your body measured and you have been given the right bike in the right size, it doesn?t mean that all will be in perfect place already. You have to test it out first to make sure that you are comfortable riding it.

Get on a cycling training program to prepare. If you are thinking of joining the cycling triathlon in good spirits, triathlons require a certain level of stamina so that you will be able to last until the end. Your training should be designed specifically for the event. The shorter the race, the greater the intensity will be. The intensity of your training should match what you will expect the race to be. Hiring a trainer for the triathlon is best, but not required particularly if your goal is only to finish. All you have to do is ride your bike as much as you can but with moderation. Be careful not to overtrain, as you don?t want to burn yourself out before the event even starts. Consume a diet that will properly fuel your body and help you get into the best condition possible.
